Summer Rifting 2016 begins tomorrow in the Arboretum of the Experimental Farm! Are you up for some incredibly challenging workouts in one of Ottawa's finest green spaces? Join us 2x per week for the next eight weeks of cardio intervals that will help you to achieve the best fitness level of your life.
In 2007 we started a bootcamp called Sculpt Club in Stanley Park in New Edinburg here in Ottawa. We loved the running aspect of the program so much that we decided to cut out the bootcamp portion and focused on running and functional fitness exercise intervals in 2009. Since our first Rift Phiit sessions our program has progressed and so have our members. It will be fun to see new and familiar faces Rifting with us this year.
We will start off the 8th year of Rift Phiit outdoors with fabulous weather tomorrow morning. Trial run tomorrow @ 8 am (Parliament location)
Spring classes outdoors were amazing! We are looking forward to Rifting during the gorgeous summer days here in Ottawa. Bring on the warm weather! Love it!
We are now offering three options to workout with us. One x per week or you may decide which dates you will be joining us and be able to pay, upfront, for those classes. This is called Drifting.... We have had many requests by our dedicated Riftors and new comers for options.

A wheel barrel walk up a flight of stairs is a great way to strengthen your upper body and core. If you don't believe me come and try it out! We have always said "the run is the rest' and we are serious. R.I.F.T. PHiit is a full workout of cardio, strength, plyometrics and flexibility exercises.
At last the snow has melted and the spring air is warming up. We are really anxious to get Rifting on the pathways, stairs, walls, grass, sand and any other surfaces we can run on here in the great outdoors of Ottawa.
We have been asked to write a post or two about our workouts and what we do for fun and adventure. Well here is post #1 of one of our favourite holiday adventures in the past. Slick Rock mountain biking in Moab Utah was an absolute blast! I hope the picture speaks for itself. All I can say is we survived....with just a few scratches.
Do you want to achieve a high level of fitness in a relatively short period of time? We teach some very creative exercises that require minimal equipment. As usual, we ask that you can run 5 km pretty comfortably in one hour. The run is the rest in this functional fitness workout! Please drop us a line if you have any questions. We plan to work hard to reach new heights in Session #2 of R.I.F.T. PHiit 2013. If you are feeling a little water logged with this wet spring weather and are wanting to "feel the burn" of a good workout in the great outdoors, then join us for this next 5 week session. We will meet Tuesdays in the Arboretum/Experimental farm and Saturdays near Parliament starting Tuesday July 2nd - Saturday Aug. 3rd. Riftors in session one worked hard to catch a few rays with Smart Bells held high. I think it worked.... the sun is starting to shine!

We will be having three free drop-in sessions in this month of April.
If you have yet to experience our Running Interval Functional Training program then how about meeting us @ 8 am this Sat. April 6th, 13th or 20th. These 1 hr workouts will involve a 5 km run with intervals of plyometrics, balance challenges, upper & lower body weight exercises and even a little yoga. We will also climb a few stairs along the route!
If you can run 5 km comfortably in 30 or 40 mins. then you will fit right in. If you can run 5 km in 20 mins..... we have lots of cool ways to challenge your total body fitness! Join us for the last 5 week series of R.I.F.T.PHiit outdoors in 2012! We have had an amazing summer of hot and dry conditions to Rift. As you can see in the photo above - we reached spectacular heights in our plyometric training. The next 5 week series should prove to be the most challenging session of free running/parcouring yet.

We are going to miss stair climbing! Can't believe we crawled up backwards on hands & toes and of course back down again. Ottawa tourists were amazed at the sight. What an amazing core and upper body workout! Last four minutes of the last one hour workout we ran up and down the 263 stairs behind Parliament twice! Of course "the run is the rest" so we had a light 30 min run to finish off the 2011 season.
Thank you to all our Riftors who worked out with us during our May - October 2011 season. Sebastian and I (Avril) had a great time leading such an amazing group of dedicated fitness buffs. Early May 2012 we will be out Rifting again in the great urban areas of Ottawa! Now we will focus on strength training, spinning and yoga at the YMCA/YWCA on Argyle. We hope to see you in the gym or out on one of the many running routes here in Ottawa!
